Colombian guerrillas kidnap 5 oil workers

(3/21/2010 - OGI: Caracas) Five employees of contractors working for Occidental Petroleum in Colombia's Arauca Department on the border with Venezuela were kidnapped yesterday by member of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) or the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia.
Luis Eduardo Ataya, governor of Arauca, said today that the guerilla force took the five men hostage after stopping their car as they were traveling between Tame and Arauca. He said that the Colombian army is pursuing the kidnappers and that a reward of approximately US$26,300 has been offered for information that leads to the freeing of the hostages. According to the army commander, another person abducted at the same time has been rescued.
The kidnap victims are reportedly employees of Tubescope and According to the initial investigation, the captives work for the Tuboscop and Tenaris subsidiary Tenoriente.
