Petroleum Geology of the North Sea: Basic Concepts and Recent Advances

(9/30/2002) Petroleum Geology of the North Sea: Basic Concepts and Recent Advances, edited by K.W. Glennie, has been around for more than a decade, but this is a newly updated edition that is required reading for every petroleum professional working in or considering working in the North Sea.
It provides a very readable summary of North Sea exploration and the pre-Permian development of the region. It illuminates the structural framework of the North Sea through a series of descriptions arranged in stratigraphic order to provide a clear comprehension of the depositional history and the hydrocarbon-related structures from the Permian to the Tertiary, including the various source rocks for both oil and gas.
Glennie also provides a "how-to" for the North Sea that informs where oil and gas bearing rock can be found and takes a stab at the region's future. Scores of useful data and strat and seismic sections to come back to time and again.

Petroleum Geology of the North Sea: Basic Concepts and Recent Advances, edited by K.W. Glennie, is published by Blackwell Science; ISBN: 0632038454; 4th edition (March 1998) List Price: $104.95. Available through the publisher and at specialty bookstores.
